Why add peroxide? Why not just water?

Water works too but peroxide kills germs and makes nice bubbles.I`ve stopped using toothpaste a few months ago and couldn`t be happier. Before that I was using a nixture of baking soda with toothpaste.I`m an oral hygiene Nazi and floss, brush and scrape my tongue with a silver spoon after each meal+ use a few drops of eucaliptus oil in a 1/4 of a cup of water as mouthwash.I don`t have a single cavity and have never been to a dentist.

Every now and then Walgreen's puts baking soda on sale, 3 boxes for $1.00. Look for their ad in your local Sunday paper.

Do you mix the peroxide and baking soda just prior to brushing each time OR do you mix up a batch and use it over time?

Either way, how many parts per baking soda and H2O2?

I might try your witchery.

I mix a spoonful of soda with just enough peroxide to make a paste right before I use it.After brushing my teeth I put a bit of soda on my toothbrush and sprinkle a good amount of peroxide on it and thoroughly brush my tongue and palate with it.After that I scrape my entire tongue with silver spoon to get rid of all the white coating.

Toothpaste is nothing more than an expensive flavoured abrasive. Baking soda accomplishes the same thing without the unwanted chemical 'extras.'

Peroxide kills the bacteria that cause gingivitis and bad breath. The bubbling effect shows that it's working. Gargle, rinse and spit a small mouthful 10-15 seconds once or twice a week, and gingivitis practically disappears. Cankers fade. Cavities seem to just 'stop.'

It's not necessary to mix the baking soda and peroxide. The oral peroxide rinse kills bacteria whether you brush before, during or after. If you have gum disease, it's a good idea to rinse after brushing so it 'eats' any blood and organic matter that gets dislodged. I find that I can't leave it in my mouth for more than a few seconds or it burns, but some people don't seem to be affected. I have to rinse with water immediately afterward.

My dentist - a recent graduate - is very enthusiastic about hydrogen peroxide. He prescribes a quick peroxide rinse for anybody with problem teeth or to prevent infection after surgery. He doesn't advise using it every day, but gargling once a week has kept me cavity free since I began about 4 years ago.

Thanks. I will give it a try. I have always held flouride in contempt. I haven't drank flouridated water (except in small doses of coffee at work) in a long time.

I still use flouridated toothpaste (for now).

I read that flouride is a by product from aluminum production. It was expensive to dispose of. Instead, they decided to add it to the toothpaste. I heard this on Alex Jones. Google "Nazis and flouride". I hate to blame the Nazis for everything, they really had some good points. Like animal rights for example.

Toms of maine has no fluoride toothpaste

tooth cleansers

Do you use food grade peroxide or regular?

I've brushed with baking soda, rinsed with food grade peroxide, and brushed a few times with bon ami which the company says is feldspar.

Most of the time though I've used magnesium sulfate, which is rather inexpensive and works well.

Blotting with a damp washcloth, i.e. squeezing the gums with pressure for a few seconds on and off, cleans well and is good for their circulation and strength.

Brushes can be quite abrasive to the teeth, especially the electric ones.

I use regular peroxide, the cheapest I can get.Yogi consider tongue scraping the basis of oral hygiene. If you floss and scrape your tongue after each meal and don`t brush at all,you are much better off than if you only brush. The white coating on tongue is a major source of auto-intoxication.The goal is to have a completely neutral taste in your mouth,if you have any hint of sour taste, it means something is rotting.

Great suggestions. Where do you find silver spoons?

I haven't used metal utensils (nickel/cadmium) for many years. However, silver is rather inert.
